Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Physician in Diabetes & Endocrinology to work across the Cardiff and Vale UHB, broadening the care of physicians who are central to plans to improve both pathways and clinical outcomes for medical patients in the Unscheduled Care stream.This replacement post will join 45 Consultant Physicians in the Medicine Directorate which is located across two acute hospital sites – University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and University Hospital Llandough (UHL).The post holder will be expected to work alongside other members of their specialty department by providing for the secondary and community care needs of patients admitted to the ward with specialty problems, as well as the assessment unit at UHW as part of on-call GIM working. This full-time post recognises the contribution to Diabetes & Endocrinology and the GIM Consultant on-call rota. The post holder will also be expected to undertake outpatient clinics which are likely to be on the UHW site (which may change in the future) and work with the department to provide community outreach services.The appointee will receive appropriate clinical managerial support and guidance within a culture of team working. The UHB reaffirms its commitment to value individuals and their contributions.Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services. Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £79,957 per annum to £103,806 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards.Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full.
