Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales on the University Hospital of Wales site in Cardiff.The appointee will join colleagues in supporting other Consultants and healthcare professionals on a variety of hospital sites around South and Mid Wales to provide specialist endocrine input as and when required. Alongside the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be expected to undertake some activity at some local hospitals as part of our commitment to provide specialist support at a regional level. The appointee will also work with the multidisciplinary paediatric diabetes team providing care for children from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan with diabetes.Cardiff and Vale UHB is a major teaching centre, providing a paediatric endocrinology service for the local population of Cardiff as well as providing a comprehensive tertiary service to South and Mid Wales. All major paediatric specialties are also provided including allergy, cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, urology, nephrology, neonatology (level 3), neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedics (including spinal), paediatric intensive care, paediatric and neonatal surgery, diabetes, respiratory medicine, radiology and oncology / haematology. The hospital offers ample opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and excellent facilities for research and clinical care.Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £79,957 per annum to £103,806 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards.Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full.
