Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to work in the Hamadryad Community Mental Health Team. The post is full-time (10 sessions), working in partnership with another Consultant colleague and the Integrated Manager within the South West area of Cardiff.The appointee will act as Responsible Clinician to clients cared for by the neighbourhood services who are in-patients or in the community under the Mental Health Act 1983. There is additional support from a colleague in the Crisis Service who manages the early part of acute admissions.The Adult Mental Health Directorate is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of mental health services to Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan (population of 417,000 served). The Directorate focuses its services on individuals aged between 18 and 65 years of age with severe and/or enduring mental health problems. Services are organised within the context of eight discrete neighbourhoods within Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Each neighbourhood is served by its own CMHT. In-patient facilities are located at University Hospital Llandough.Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine will be expected.Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT / CESR(CP) at the time of interview.You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £79,957 per annum to £103,806 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards.Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full.
