Job Description

Community Engagement Officer.We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the charity as it launches a new, three year, Wales wide projectNext Steps Wales.Position: Stroke Next Steps OfficerLocation: Homebased with regular travel across WalesHours: 35 hours per weekSalary: £24,300 per annumContract: This is a fixed term project funding contract until 31 March 2025. Please let us know if this will present any challenges when you email your applicationThe RoleReporting to the Engagement Lead for Wales, the Next Steps Officer will be working with local partners to enhance the community-based support network for stroke survivors and carers across Wales.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with stroke survivors and carers to identify gaps and needs locally and use insight to grow community development opportunities.
  • Work with wider Wales and central teams to support local campaigning activity and ensure that stroke survivors feel confident to speak up about issues that are important to them.
  • Recruit, develop and coordinate volunteers with the support of other relevant team members to support stroke survivors and carers in a range of settings including activities and community groups
  • Providing support to help build confidence and enabling service users to regain their control and improve their quality of life after stroke.
About YouYou will:
  • Be bilingual (Welsh and English)
  • Be required to be IT efficient and have experience of recording data to generate reports
  • Have a background of working in partnerships with other organisations including those in the voluntary sector, health and social care
  • Be able to demonstrate previous experience of working in advocacy, campaigning, community engagement and development
  • Experience in developing support using co-production with service users
  • Have the ability to use basic Microsoft system.
This role is home based, but extensive travel is required across the local area and occasionally further afield.The use of a car with business use cover and the ability to drive is essential to be able to fulfil the requirements of the roleTo fulfil the role, you must abode within the U.K and have the right to work in the U.KAbout the OrganisationWhen stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down.
