Job Description

You will work across the spectrum of communication disciplines including: public relations, internal communications, sponsorship, advertising and events.You will support the Board, Marketing & Communications Team in delivering communication that will inform, engage and inspire our external stakeholders as well as all employees.Client DetailsOur client is one of Waless largest leading Training Providers. Providing a list of training programmes and qualifications in Traineeships, Apprenticeships, Higher Apprenticeships and schools across 30 different sectors.As a business they are extremely passionate about making a positive difference to peoples lives by providing excellent learning programmes and opportunities.DescriptionResponsibilities of the Communications Officer:

  • To actively keep updated with the companys services and programmes.
  • To develop yourself by attending courses, meetings, training events, workshops and seminars, in order to not only develop yourself but also the company.
  • To demonstrate clear copywriting and verbal communication skills including report and award nomination writing skills.
  • To be highly self-motivated and organised.
  • To ensure effective customer care skills.
  • A recognition and regard for observing confidentiality.
  • The capacity to work as part of a team.
  • An ability to work on own initiative and meet set timescales.
  • External communication:
  • Draft, edit and publish external facing news articles, blogs and case studies
  • With the support of your manager, oversee press activity and build and maintain contacts with the media
  • Lead on external awards, submitting nominations and, if applicable, dealing with the shortlisting and winning processes
  • Work with the Board and Senior Management Team to proofread and feedback on high level communications and documents.
  • Support and advise the Marketing & Communications team on external facing communications and marketing, ensuring a consistent and correct tone of voice.
  • Proof content produced by the other members of the Marketing & Communications team to ensure messaging is consistent and in line with our brands key messages
  • To adhere to Welsh Government and partner guidelines for marketing and advertising purposes
  • Internal communication:
  • Manage and update internal communication strategy
  • Day to day management of all internal communication requests
  • Work with the Board and Senior Management Team to draft communication plans to support business objectives
  • Work with the Board and Senior Management Team to draft, proofread and feedback on high level communications and documents.
  • Develop and maintain an internal voice and brand
  • Provide direction to staff on the use of communication channels
  • Help ensure high quality and effective internal communication will become normal day-to-day practice across the company at every level
  • Ensure that all internal communication is based on a key set of principles: open, honest, timely, consistent, proactive, two-way and accessible to all
  • Draft, edit and publish internal facing news articles, blogs and case studies
  • Utilise appropriate channels and tools to ensure internal communications are effective
  • Develop and create engaging content for their intranet and other internal platforms
  • Compiling and creating the internal newsletter
  • Work with teams to develop concepts for new internal communication campaigns
  • ProfileThe successful Communications Officer will have:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience of working within a communications role
  • Experience of working with Content management systems (CMS), such as SharePoint or a company Intranet
  • Strong creative writing skills
  • Have a lively interest in internal communications
  • Be highly self-motivated and organised
  • Have a great sense of what makes a good internal news story
  • Be a peoples person and have an ability to develop relationships with members of staff from across the organisation
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Packages
  • Minimum 3 A-Levels or equivalent in English/Literacy

  • Salary: £24,500 rising to £26,000 per annum
