Job Description

Communications Officer (Fixed Term Contract until October)We are currently recruiting for a Welsh Speaking Communications Officer on a fixed term contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a renowned charity dedicated to the arts. The Communications Officer will play a crucial role in managing media relationshipsand promoting the clients work. This is a fixed-term contract position until October.Our client, an independent charity, has a vision of a creative environment where the arts are at the heart of the nations life and well-being.As the Communications Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining effective media partnerships and ensuring a positive image of the client and their work. You will utilise both traditional and new technology platforms to communicate with diverse audienceseffectively. The role involves responding to media activity, generating news and information, managing press relations, and supporting key corporate projects.Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for press and media contacts, promoting a positive image of the client and their work.
  • Monitor key developments in the arts, especially those that may impact the clients reputation.
  • Maintain effective contacts with media professionals in the arts sector, as well as within relevant organisations.
  • Generate relevant and engaging content for various formats, including press releases, media statements, web information, and newsletters.
  • Ensure staff have access to key information and news through appropriate channels.
  • Provide media support and guidance to colleagues, artists, and arts organisations.
  • Manage and shape projects that promote the clients priorities, including public events.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and companies to deliver programs aligned with the clients goals.
  • Ensure consistent use of the clients brand and appropriate crediting by funding recipients.
  • Promote a positive profile for the client and their activities among decision-makers, stakeholders, partners, and the public.
  • Contribute to the measurement and evaluation of communications activity across all channels.
  • Adhere to relevant policies to protect the client and its staff against potential risks and incidents.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to converse confidently Welsh with impeccable grammar.
  • Sound knowledge of the media landscape locally and internationally.
  • Highly developed IT skills and proficiency in utilising various communication platforms.
  • Relevant degree and/or professional experience in a media-related role.
  • Proven experience in managing media relations and implementing innovative PR strategies.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with media agencies and stakeholders.
  • Creative flair and a keen eye for initiating fresh and innovative PR solutions.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to prioritise effectively.

  • Willingness to travel when required and work flexible hours.
