Acorn Executive Search works in strategic partnership with the Welsh Sports Association in identifying voluntary Board Members for the Boards of sporting Governing Bodies. We are looking for a Chair / Board Member for a period of 4 years with the opportunity to be extended.This is a voluntary role. Time Commitment; 6 Meetings a Year (1 day in duration) plus some extra days on an annual basis subject to attendance at events and other board commitments.Role Purpose The Chair will provide leadership to the board taking responsibility for the boards composition and development and ensuring proper information for the board and planning and conducting board meetings effectively. The Chair will also provide strategic direction to the senior management team at Welsh Gymnastics.Responsibility to deliverThe Chair and Non-Executive Directors are required as members of the Board to take responsibility in four key areas: StrategyPerformanceRiskPeopleSpecific Skills:An understanding of business matters combined with experience in, or a passion for sport. Must be comfortable, assured and experienced in running board meetings and getting the best from the other directors through a collaborative approach and encouraging the board to express their views and ideas. The chair will be expected to have an excellent understanding of modern governance and sport funding models.
