Job Description

Two positions availablePost 1 - Case worker Full time - South Wales £26,000Post 2 - Case worker Part time - North Wales 24 hours a week pro rata £26,000Ymlaen are the Branch of Unison that support our members in the Third sector. Our membership is largely in the care sector with members in care settings and Housing associations with the majority of our members being low paid. We cover nearly 500 differentemployers so no two days or cases are the same.Ymlaen is complex, challenging, exciting, frustrating and very rewarding. Just as you think you have the measure of our Branch it will surprise you.We are seeking to recruit two case workers to support our branch members across Wales. These vital roles will provide advice, manage a case load and promote the work of the Union. If you have problem solving skills, are able to motivate people, have plentyof initiative and have experience of case management we would love to hear from you.Ymlaen Branch is an equal opportunities employer, committed to providing equal opportunities regardless of race or ethnic origin, gender identity, family situation, sexual orientation, disability, religion or age.Responsible to the Branch Secretary, this post is key in supporting Ymlaen Branch with case work providing support to Branch members.It covers representation work, providing advice, managing cases on both an individual and group basis.PRIMARY ROLEProviding representation to members including; Individual Representation covering:

  • Disciplinaries
  • Grievances
  • General advice and guidance to members
  • Advising on workplace issues
  • Referral to appropriate resources and ongoing support
  • Monitoring and responding to referrals as required
  • Collective Representation of members
  • Changes of Pay, Terms and Conditions
  • Contract changes
  • Changes of work environment
  • TUPE
  • Other employment issues as required.
SECONDARY ROLE
  • Identifying potential workplace representatives and activists
  • Recruitment in current and new employers
  • Mentoring and developing new stewards
  • Promoting the understanding of and engagement with the Self Organised Groups within Unison.
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain the Ymlaen database
  • Hold meetings with various parties including members and employers as required
  • Chairing of group meetings in collective issues P
