REED Scientific currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Biomedical Scientist to join a busy Pathology Department in Cardiff. We are currently recruiting for a Biomedical Scientist who specialises in Microbiology to assist the Clinical Assay team.As Biomedical Scientist, you will play a key role in the Pathology and Lab Teams with duties including biomedical diagnostic testing, interpretation and reporting, recording specimens and results plus working to develop and improve new diagnostic procedures.Responsibilities- Maintaining frozen stokes of microorganisms and living stokes of microorganisms.- Prepare, maintain, and perform quality control testing of laboratory media used for the growth and propagation of microorganisms.- Cultures by propagation viable pathogenic and non-pathogenic stock cultures of bacteria, viruses, and fungi.- Preparing microbiological samples for Research Scientists.- Monitoring and updating of laboratory inventory including disposal of out-of-date reagents and media.- Ensuring laboratories are operated in line with quality standards for ISO 13485.- Preparation of laboratory reagents (weekly).- Operation of the autoclave and glass washer.- Ensuring laboratory equipment is maintained and subject to appropriate calibration and servicing.Requirements- BSc (or equivalent) in Biomedical Science (IBMS accredited).- Up to date HCPC registration.- Proven experience working in a pathology lab.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and able to provide excellent standards of customer service.- Experience of working in a Medical Microbiology laboratory.- Experience of working with aseptic techniques.- Basic computer literacy including MS Word and Excel.If you are interested and you would like to find more details about this role please get in contact!
