Job Description

Automation Test Engineer£45,000-£50,000CardiffFlexible working – 25 Days Annual Leave + BH – Annual Bonus – Generous Pension SchemeMain Responsibilities

  • Understand the context of a User Story amongst existing system functionality and the impact it might have on existing functionality and regression packs
  • Utilise a Risk Based approach to testing
  • Utilise various standard test techniques as appropriate to provide the test coverage required to test the feature / function such as Boundary Value Analysis, Equivalence Partitioning testing, etc.
  • Ensure that the order of test execution is optimised to reduce unnecessary re-testing where possible (e.g. management of time travel testing across multiple, shared environments)
  • AssistJunior members of the teamwith scheduling of tasks and advise improvements that could be made.
  • Ability to write and execute own test scripts as well as others
  • Execute regression and exploratory testing as necessary in an efficient and effective way, recording results
  • If system behaves in different way to expected, build up relationships with BA’s and SME’s to determine correct behaviour
  • Sound C# skills (or Java) – ability to code own tests, as well as make changes to/amend other
  • Understanding of page object design and ability to make best use of common functions within the framework
  • Retest defects as fixes are provided. Ensure that the current state of the defect is kept up to date in Jira
  • Assist Junior TOA’s in recreation and reporting of defects
  • Raise the profile of serious defects directly
  • Raise awareness within the team of possible defect clusters to inform potential adjustments to the test approach (heavy regression testing around a particular area or function
  • Escalate Problems in Quality where they exist (from Test level to ENV level
  • Provide feedback to lessons learned activity for continuous improvement of test approaches and strategy. Remain focused upon the end user and the customers of the IT Delivery team
