We embrace a hybrid working model as much as possible.About the Assistant Project Manager: At the Coal Authority the Environment Department is responsible for addressing the issues of water pollution from abandoned coal and metal mines across Britain by developing new schemes and supporting the operation of over 75 existing mine water treatmentschemes. There are three main delivery programmes covering sites spread across the former coal and metal mining areas in England, Wales and Scotland.Projects generally include a variety of remedial interventions, not least surface water and spoil heap management and both passive and active mine water treatment schemes and we actively consider and trial novel and emerging technologies, encountering awide range of environmental sensitivities and constraints at all sites, with most of the sites having some designated areas / features either close to or on-site and most typically located in rural areas and sitting within or close to protected areas.Key Responsibilites as ourAssistant Project Manager:- Be focused on only one of our programmes described above, however you may be asked to support other programmes as needs arise- Joining the Projects team and helping to manage a portfolio of varied projects to remediate contaminated water from legacy mines through the development of new schemes as well as the refurbishment of existing assets.- Working with Project Managers, the successful candidate will support the delivery of complex, strategically important projects and lead the delivery of low to medium risk projects.- Working closely with our technical, operations, innovations & R&D teams to find the best solutions and maximise benefits and opportunities for each scheme.- Preparing project investment papers (business cases) to obtain funding.- Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities that need to be considered during project development and deliveryAbout our Assistant Project Manager:- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with project and non-project people at every level- An understanding of Project Management principles, tools & techniques- Analytical and reporting skills- A methodical and organised approach to work- A HND or equivalent or working towards such a qualification in an appropriate discipline or able to demonstrate suitable experience for the role- Experience of working in the water or environmental sectors- An understanding or experience of identifying and developing solutions, for problems- Experience of working on the development or construction of projectsSuccessful candidates must pass basic security checks and will be subject to UK Immigration requirements.If you believe you are the right candidate for the role of ourAssistant Project Manager, then please click apply now!
