From humble beginnings, and as part of SHV Energy, Calor has continued to develop and diversify, ensuring that our service offering is expansive, progressive and relevant to our customers. It is our people that enable us to do that, which is why they are the heart of our business.We are looking for a Terminal Technician that will be responsible for operating process plant and equipment to enable the safe unloading of ships, the storage of Liquified Propane Gas (LPG), the export of LPG via loading of road tankers and reloading of LPG ships via pipelines.You will ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of Calors Canvey LPG Terminal assets through the efficient use and routine maintenance of those assets.Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking a range of duties on the LPG plant and equipment, pressure systems, cryogenic plant and associated utility systems including steam, nitrogen, and compressed air
  • Undertaking required routine low level maintenance & inspection; input to and support any site specific modifications, undertake site isolations, workplace audits, assist in the decommissioning of site material
  • Record and log plant operations, general site activities, safety system overrides and plant and equipment defects
  • Presenting essential/complex information in a clear and concise manner for handover to others; as well as receive information and ask relevant questions to ensure and enforce transfer of knowledge and understanding
  • Being proactive in all aspects of site operations and maintenance, communicating to support and enable satisfactory completion to plan and to maintain business performance targets
  • Provide a supporting role in the event of a site emergency and able to keep an incident log
  • Being responsible for the safety of self and others
  • Contribute to the development, review and update of emergency, security, safety, operational plans, procedures and risk assessments to ensure safe and cost effective operation of plant and equipment
  • Working in all weather permitting conditions, at height, over land and water
  • Work in a collaborative manner supporting delivery of Calor business performance objectives and site team targets; and the development of others
  • As such we would like you to:
  • Be educated to GCSE Grade C or equivalent level including Maths & English (ONC/City & Guilds (or equivalent) would be desirable)
  • Demonstrate a wide range of practical abilities, with knowledge and understanding of process operations and experience of working with cryogenic plant & equipment
  • Have technical process knowledge relating to safety aspects, ideally of an upper tier COMAH
  • Demonstrate proven ability to respond appropriately to abnormal or emergency situations
  • Have the ability to respond appropriately to environmental hazards and incidents with a sound understanding of due care and attention
  • Have sound understanding of Calor’s operational policies, procedures and processes and/or aware of safe working practices and legislation relating to process plant operations
  • Have a self-help approach to common work-related problems
  • Be able to use IT and IS systems to undertake day-to-day duties
  • Have the ability to understand and follow the company’s performance management process including personal development
