Job Description

Legal Secretary/Conveyancing AssistantResidential PropertyCanterbury office£23-24k DOEFull Time (Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm)We are a seeking an Legal Secretary/Conveyancing Assistant to join an incredible company in Canterbury. In this role you will be expected to be fully acquainted with residential property work and the conveyancing process.Key responsibilities for a Legal Secretary/Conveyancing Assistant:

  • Opening and closing of client files
  • Acquiring client ID as necessary for Anti Money Laundering regulations
  • Handling all aspects of a sale and purchase transactions including ordering searches, official copies and Companies House documents, assisting in exchange and completion;
  • Drafting documents such as lease extensions, deeds, completion statements and Land Registry forms, using the Land Registry portal
  • Deal with Stamp Duty Land Tax requirements including calculations, submissions, and payments
  • Supplying secretarial support to partner, including arranging appointments, dealing with client
  • Retaining and coordinating diaries and diary notes and reporting on these as necessary
  • Regular consideration of client files and advising fee earners on any action required;
  • Supplying ad hoc secretarial cover for sickness and holiday absences in the team when needed;
  • Join in the office rota by covering Reception during lunch breaks, holidays and unforeseen
  • absences; collection/delivery of daily incoming/outgoing post etc.
Key requirements:Experience
  • Appropriate experience gained from within the legal industry
  • Excellent knowledge of the residential conveyancing process
Training
  • Institute of Legal Secretaries Diploma or CILEx
  • Secretarial Certificate
Specialist Skills/ Ability/Knowledge
  • Competent in the use of MS Word and Outlook
  • Familiar with using a practice management system/database such as Partner 4 Windows (P4W)
  • Proficient audio typist
  • Familiar with transcribing correspondence using Digital Dictation
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills,
