Job Description

Financial ControllerContract Type: TemporaryLocation: CanterburyIndustry: WholesaleWe are seeking a Financial Controller for a temporary contract with a large wholesale company based in Canterbury. This role is ideal for a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in financial management. The successful candidatewill be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and supporting strategic decision-making processes.Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, monthly management accounts, variance analysis, and commentaries.
  • Ensure the completion of financial reporting systems in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organisational budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximise protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller.
  • Strong knowledge of wholesale industry financial regulations and accounting processes.
  • Proficient in the use of financial management software.
  • Excellent grasp of financial statistics and accounting principles.
  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Professional qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent is preferable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify and address financial risks and opportunities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
