Job Description

We are looking for a full time salesman for our Canterbury Builders Merchant. The successful applicant needs to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the building trade and happy to work inside and outdoors; being flexible to what customers or the branch needs.Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the organisation of the yard and deliveries, keeping the yard in good condition
  • Showcase stock knowledge and an enthusiasm to help the customer both at the trade counter and in the yard
  • Support stock management of the branch, ensuring proper procedures are followed
  • Excellent customer service skills, serving customers and answering phones whenever needed
  • Merchandising of stock throughout the branch
  • Help drivers with their deliveries, loading and unloading stock
    • What key skills and experiences are we looking for
  • Confident communication skills - You will be interacting with customers everyday
  • Can do attitude - We work better together, going the extra mile every day for each other and our customers
  • Appetite to learn - We are continuing to add new products to our range all the time
  • Previous customer facing experience - Whether in a builders merchant, DIY or other retailers or hospitality
  • Forklift licence is highly beneficial
  • Flexibility - Our stores are open 6 days a week, with opening times generally 8am - 6pm with reduced hours at the weekend, you will work 5 days per week with a rota day off in the week
