Job Description

" data-test-description=""> We are working on behalf of one of the worlds leading financial services companies who are looking for a Director level Press Officer to join their Corporate Communications team. The ideal candidate is someone with experience in media relations, corporatecommunications, or journalism from a capital markets, financial services or professional services background.Youre primary responsibility will be optimising media visibility for Financial Institutions research, ratings and commentary from the company.Responsibilities:

  • Writing media releases on research reports and developing other media content such as media pitches or reactive comments.
  • Providing effective media relations counsel to senior management and other businesses within the Group.
  • Working closely with various analytical groups and Group businesses to develop communication strategies that enhance visibility in the media and relationships with reporters.
  • Ensuring the distribution of news around product developments, industry commentary, and rating decisions are broad, timely and relevant.
  • Setting a strong example to junior team members - providing support and mentorship.
  • Support Corporate Communication colleagues and contributing to the companys broader strategic objectives and projects.
  • Help prepare the daily internal newsletter for EMEA.
  • Directly deal with broadcast, print, online and specialist reporters to ensure optimal positioning of research and commentary.
  • Respond to media enquiries and proactively engage with the media.
  • Foster strong relationships with beat reporters covering the relevant analytical groups and businesses.
  • Ensure regular interaction for analytical team members and senior management with media.
  • Contribute to media relations strategic planning for analytical groups and businesses supported.
  • Develop core messages for significant initiatives and press interviews.
  • Provide cover support for other colleagues during busy periods if theyre absent.
Ideal Background & Characteristics
  • Strong experience in media relations, corporate communications (in-house or agency), or journalism. Preferably in Capital Markets, Financial or Professional Services.
  • Experience of regular dealings with broadcast and print journalists.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create clear and straightforward content out of complex documents.
  • Experience of operating under pressure in response to short media deadlines.
  • Multi-tasking/project management skills.
  • Familiarity with current and emerging social media trends.
  • Bachelors degree.
  • Confident self-starter, team player, and autonomous worker.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Ability to think globally, work collaboratively in an international team.
  • Able to put together sensitive messages for different audiences.
