We are currently looking for a Statistical Bioinformatician to join a leading Biotechnology company based in the Cambridgeshire area. We are looking for an experienced statistical bioinformatician to join the bioinformatics team with significant experience in statistical data analysis, including mathematical modelling and predictive approaches. The position will provide the candidate with an opportunity to apply their statistical and computational skills to analyse complex multi-layered omics data and identify novel targets and biomarkers associated with diseases. This will also include data sets derived from clinical trials. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Your duties as the Statistical Bioinformatician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:Developing and implementing statistical approaches to analyse diverse multi-layered omics data types (eg. genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) to identify novel drug targets, biomarkers and therapeutic mechanisms. Integration and meta-analysis of public & internal data sets to generate testable hypotheses.Leading the application of statistical approaches to aid the interpretation of omics datasets derived from clinical trials. Driving the development of analytical models using statistical, mathematical and machine learning methods for biomarker development and patient stratification strategies. Working with bioinformaticians to implement innovative statistical analyses for a variety of research projects. Critical assessment of the application of novel statistical approaches in the field and the implementation of appropriate methods in-house. ROLE REQUIREMENTS:To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Statistical Bioinformatician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. PhD in statistics or a relevant numerical discipline (eg. mathematics, statistical genetics, computer science or similar) or a Masters with relevant experience. 2. Experience in the statistical analysis of diverse omics datasets. 3. A strong understanding of statistical concepts and a demonstrated, high level, of proficiency in the application of a range of classical and modern statistical methods statistical methods.
