Job Description

Social Sustainability LeadAlconbury£50,000 - £70,000 DOEAre you a confident and enthusiastic Social Sustainability Lead looking for a new roleCoulter Elite Resourcing are currently looking for a Social Sustainability Leadto work with one of their market leading and clients based in Alconbury. Principle Responsibilities for the Social Sustainability Lead:

  • Be the expert and principal point of contact for all matters relating to social sustainability and human rights for the Group, including keeping abreast to the growing regulatory and disclosure landscape for Human Rights Due Diligence, Modern Slavery, Genderand Living Wage.
  • Design, develop and implement strategies to raise awareness and increase capability to deliver our human rights commitments across the business and growers/suppliers with a particular focus on gender and fair pay.
  • Working with the Engagement and Reporting Manager, ensure robust reporting against key social sustainability KPIs and a timely, comprehensive modern slavery report
  • Review and deliver the human rights risk assessment and due diligence approach and work with technical and procurement to ensure that ethical sourcing requirements are embedded into business processes and reporting systems
  • Oversee the monitoring of grower/supplier conformance. Review supplier social audits to determine the grading of ethical non- conformances. Ensure areas of non-conformance/concern are addressed
  • Use audit data and trends to inform risk reviews and priorities
  • Horizon scanning and work with the Insight and NPD team to ensure that consumer insight is driving the ESG strategy.
  • Identify needs and develop/deliver relevant internal and supplier training where appropriate
  • Work with key suppliers and growers to better understand human rights risks and identify what steps we can take to prevent and manage these
  • Create strong, trusted, and collaborative relationships with human rights/ethical trade teams to address systemic issues
  • Identify engagement opportunities aligned to priority areas, and facilitate relationships with relevant multi stakeholder initiatives, NGOs, trade associations, charities etc. representing the business within these forums eg FNET, ETI
  • Working closely with the HR team, lead on the Groups modern slavery programme implementing systems to identify, mitigate and if found remedy instances of modern slavery within the UK and global supply chains.
Person specification for the Social Sustainability Lead:
  • Extensive experience in relevant human rights / social impact role in industry
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of the factors impacting on social sustainability and human rights, including the UN SDGs, the growing regulatory landscape for Human Rights Due Diligence, Modern Slavery, Gender and Living Wage.
  • Strong knowledge of human rights, international labour standards, and their application within complex business environments
  • Experience in using data to provide insight (e.g. SEDEX platform)
  • Social auditing experience
  • Proven track record with external suppliers, NGOs and multi stakeholder initiatives
  • Experience developing and leading collaborative and multi- stakeholder projects to tackle systemic issues
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong internal relationships, especially across buying teams.
  • Proven track record with external suppliers, NGOs and multi stakeholder initiatives in human rights/ social impact arena
  • Academic qualification or hands on experience in international development or related field.
  • Social auditing skills
  • Advanced stakeholder management skills to manage and influence stakeholders - and not afraid to challenge.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell a complex story in a compelling manner via all means of communication
  • Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships, especially across commercials teams.
