Job Description

My client, a global Biopharma organisation is looking for a Senior Scientist to join the Bioanalysis Discovery group in Cambridge as a laboratory-based scientist. The successful candidate would be responsible for initiating, directing and performing research experiments and implementing strategies, whilst maintaining an in-depth knowledge of state-of -the-art principles and scientific theories. They will also display leadership by scientific influence, demonstrating technical proficiency, scientific creativity, teamwork and independent thought, with the ability to author scientific publications in peer reviewed journals and make presentations at scientific meetings.Main Responsibilities

  • To develop methods, design, perform, identify and solve problems and summarize data from biomarker and / or bioanalytical support to in vitro and / or in vivo toxicology and PK/PD studies to achieve Project Team objectives
  • To lead interactions with projects on interpretation of bioanalysis and biomarker data
  • Identify new approaches and technologies that would improve our ability to support projects
  • To be a co-author on manuscripts
  • To ensure all work meets GLS (General Laboratory Standard)
  • To build an awareness of current scientific development relevant to an area of pathology biomarker and / or bioanalytical science
  • To deliver high quality scientific results to agreed completion dates for several concurrent studies and schedule their own work in agreement with the Study Supervisor so that project deadlines are achieved
  • Influence invitro and in vivo scientists to ensure that appropriate samples are taken to define the biomarker and or candidate drug
  • Identify new approaches and technologies that would improve our ability to support projects
  • To present and describe work at internal meetings, and present at scientific meetings, as appropriate
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of contract research organizations and coordinate method transfer as required
  • Requirements
  • BS or MS in related field of science (biomarker and /or bioanalysis) and relevant industrial work experience. Prior research experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry or academic research laboratory preferred.
  • Quantitative biomarker assay development, application and data interpretation
  • Quantitative bioanalysis assay development, application and data interpretation
  • Biofluid and tissue sample analysis
  • Analytical techniques e.g. ligand binding/immunoassays, PCR, flow cytometry
  • An understanding of automation, liquid handling, instrument management and data handling
  • A good, practical, understanding of biomarker and or bioanalysis study design and data analysis
  • Experience of biomarkers and/or bioanalysis of large molecules and oligonucleotide molecules.
