A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a Life Science company who working on new products comprising of laboratory instruments, consumables and accessories. To achieve this, the company is strengthening its new in-house product development team, which will be supported by external development and manufacturing partners.Responsibilities:- Product – Contribute significantly to development of mechanical components and sub-assemblies to support concept development, prototyping, production process design, transfer to production, support when in production. Support integration of electronic assemblies and interconnects.- Project Management; Planning / Risk Management / Monitoring & Reporting- Quality Management – Ensure designs developed in a defined manner to necessary quality level- Documentation – Ensure all development is documented to necessary standards. Provide material as required to support regulatory submissions (e.g. CE Marking Folder).- Design Assurance – Use appropriate means to ensure that designs comply with requirements and satisfies necessary standards.Experience / Qualifications: - Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or other closely related technical discipline.- Experience of working with development partners will be an advantage- Laboratory equipment, diagnostics, medical devices (preferred)- Industrial design / ergonomics (collaborative work with appropriate consultants)- 3D modelling using Solidworks- Material selection (including consideration of biocompatibility)- Mechanical Prototyping using variety of techniques- Simulation & Modelling (including Stress Analysis, Mould Flow Analysis) - Advantageous- Tooling design for injection moulding- Manufacturing Process Design and Deployment- Maintenance of Bills Of Material (including volume costings)- Consumables sterilization processesSalary - £45,000 - £55,000 (DOE)If you are interested in the position above, please respond back with an updated CV and your interview availability via Skype/Zoom/Microsoft Teams.If this role isnt what youre looking for dont worry, we cover all permanent and contract positions with specialist industry sector teams.
