Job Summary:The Senior Bursar and General Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the support operations in alignment with the Clients strategic goals. Reporting to the Principal, the General Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe andefficient operation of the College, both as a Resource Centre for Learning of the United Reformed Church and a high-quality commercial venue. This role demands strong operational leadership, financial acumen, and a commitment to innovation and change management.Key Responsibilities:Operational Leadership:Take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of College, supporting its strategic and operational aims.Lead and line-manage all direct reports, including Tutorial, Hospitality, Finance, and Estates Managers, the Head of Reception, and the Archivist.Maintain high standards of site safety, behaviour, attitudes, and service delivery by support staff.Financial Planning:Develop and manage budgets, ensuring timely reporting to the relevant monitoring group.Identify strategic opportunities to improve resource efficiency, sustainability, and the Colleges financial position.Strategic Management:Collaborate with the Principal to shape and implement the Colleges ethos and priorities.Implement agreed-upon plans and report on outcomes, making recommendations as needed.Lead structured communication with senior colleagues on strategic and operational matters.Human Resources and Safety:Oversee staff recruitment, induction, development, appraisal, and discipline with HR specialist support.Ensure compliance with all College policies and UK safety legislation, including COVID-19 protocols.Foster effective communication between academic and support staff.Qualifications:Proven experience in a senior managerial role, preferably within an educational or similar institution.Strong financial planning and budget management skills.Experience in line-managing diverse teams, with a focus on effective communication and collaboration.Knowledge of health, safety, and security best practices, including compliance with relevant legislation.Familiarity with data protection principles and practices.
