Job Description

An excellent opportunity for a commercially minded scientist with either a PhD or 2+ years post-degree practical experience in light, confocal and/or electron microscopy to move into a technical sales specialist role. It will involve customer training, instrument demonstrations, overseeing installations and generating new business to further grow and develop the sales of this product line within the UK.The company will provide full training and have a great working environment - they are family owned, have a culture of being very team focused, friendly and have a very good reputation in the scientific market.Role:

  • Home-based, travelling to customer sites across the UK when required (possible overnight stays on occasions, possible 2-3 nights per month)
  • Generate sales leads via working with the marketing team to generate promotional material and contacting prospective customers over the telephone, email and face to face.
  • Ensure excellent relationships with customers throughout the process, including after-care support.
  • Manage all leads and opportunities to ensure maximum conversion to profitable sales.
  • Work closely with the manufacturer to ensure maximum price/product/sales support is obtained and submit prompt proposals to customers.
  • Instrument demonstration
  • Oversee installation of equipment at customer sites
  • Provide customer training
  • Attend industry networking events and exhibitions.
  • Understand the market place, competitors, changes in market trends, new product developments and build product knowledge to understand customers specific needs.
Person Specification:
  • Academic Degree
  • Microscopy sales experience or post-degree experience using Microscopes within the laboratory environment
  • Commercially minded and keen to use skills in a commercial scientific role
