Job Description

You would be responsible for internal and external communications and public and patient involvement. This includes media relations, issues management, public awareness campaigns, internal communications, design and print of all materials, web and intranetmanagement, award events and public consultations.Key Result Areas:

  • Providing communication support in an emergency or major incident. This role requires weekend working. Please contact me directly for further information!
  • To participate in a 24/7 media on call rota once a week!
  • Manage difficult and sensitive issues, which could be local, regional, or national stories! (This will involve working with the head of communications and other managers to find out the facts, draft appropriate responses, get responses approved, and brief journalists accordingly).
  • Producing regular reports on Trust media activity and coverage. (This will include monitoring news outlets and social media).
  • Manage media enquiries, and altering appropriate leaders of contentious issues. This will also include day to day engagement with the Trusts social media accounts.
  • Updating websites, social media platforms and other in-house channels when required
  • Responsible for implementing the Trusts media relations plan. Managing media enquires, researching an producing positive stories and content for corporate communication channels whilst developing relationships with stakeholders
  • Producing appropriate progress and performance reporting and ensuring evaluation and analysis informs planning
  • Manage media enquiries, and altering appropriate leaders of contentious issues. This will also include day to day engagement with the Trusts social media accounts.
  • Develop, manage and implement campaigns with the public affairs team
  • To sub-edit and proof-read copy for a range of internal and external materials
  • To provide media support in the event of major or serious incidents and to take part in emergency planning exercises.
ProfileEssential:
  • Education to degree level in Media or equivalent experience
  • Excellent IT skills, such as the ability to use desktop publishing software such as In Design, Content Management Systems, and Microsoft Office products
  • At least 2 years experience of working in the media/press/PR field
  • Knowledge of how the media works and how the media landscape is changing
  • Experience in using social and digital media (e.g. updating intranets/websites and using databases)
  • Use multi-media to high standard (photographer, video, editing software)
