Mechanical Engineering ConsultantWe are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer / Mechanical Engineering Consultant to join a global technology and R&D development services company. You will be creating, analysing and developing new products across a widevariety of market sectors and technologies including medical devices, consumer goods ( white, brown, FMCG), industrial tools and all manner of other products - boredom will never be an issue!Mechanical Engineering Consultant ResponsibilitiesTechnical project managementDesign, develop and transfer to manufacture of challenging, innovative and complex products in the medical and consumer sectorsWrite complex technical design and test reportsLead and guide small teams of mechanical engineers, on client focused projectsLiaise and work with the client and client technical team during the course of a projectSupport business development activity by providing pre-sales inputProvide mentoring and support to peersMechanical Engineering Consultant Experience & QualificationsCandidates need to be degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, with appropriate industry experience. Candidates experience and skills will include some, or all, of the following:Mechanical design experience to include the development of new products, ideally gained within a consultancy or commercial environmentExposure to the medical device development processExperience of managing projects or work packages to tight timescales throughout the full product life cycleTeam leading experience, involving guiding and planning team members activitiesStrong interpersonal and communication skills- confident and capable in a client facing roleExperience of working in a multi-skilled environment (i.e. developing electro-mechanical products)A working knowledge of Kinematic control issues in robotics or complex electromechanical machines would be beneficialAnalytical skills experience including:Failure modes and effects predictionGeometric and linear tolerancingExperiment design and implementation for design verificationUse of tools such as MATLAB, MATHCAD, COMSOL, Moldflow and FEACAD design experience (preferably SolidWorks and/or ProE)Experience of design for manufacture and assemblyKnowledge of transfer to manufacture, manufacture process and formal product approvalsCareer DevelopmentThis is a great career development opportunity -you will receive bespoke training and mentoring for professional development to allow every individual to thrive and truly realise their personal potential.BenefitsA highly competitive salary and generous benefits package.Vacancy Location: Cambridgeshire (commutable from Bedford, Cambridge, Stevenage and Bury St Edmunds)
