We are looking for a number of Mechanical Design Engineers to join a world leading R&D consultancy in Cambridgeshire. The company is focusing on developing award-winning products and provide process development services for clients across sectors including healthcare, communications and electronics, consumer products and defence. You must be a complete/all- round Mechanical Design Engineer - this is NOT a simple CAD Pilot or Industrial Design job with endless time in front of a CAD station. Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD, be it Creo (Pro-E), Solidworks, CATIA, AutoCAD, etc is important but you must be able to take those designs and turn them into a proven concept and prototype -and then on to a finished product. You will be joining an exceptionally gifted, enthusiastic and friendly group of Design Engineers coming up with cutting edge solutions and designs for the next generation of technology products. You will become a leader in your field and the potential career progression is superb!Essential Requirements: * Minimum 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or related subject* High level of proficiency in 3D CAD systems; preferably SolidWorks* Experience and knowledge of FEA modelling* Substantial commercial experience in Mechanical Engineering from a system or product design perspective, from concept, through to detail design, to scale-up and volume manufacturing* Intuitive understanding of risk managementDesirable Skills: * Understanding of plastic/polymer moulding for parts and tool design (particularly high volume)* Tolerance analysis for mass production* Knowledge of mechanical assembly processes and good DFMA skills* Understanding of quality control and risk management* Working knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment in the USA and EU* Customer focus, with a professional and confident communication styleVacancy Location: Cambridgeshire (commutable from Bedford, North London, Cambridge, Stevenage, Harlow and Bury St Edmunds)
