Job Description

Looking to recruit a high-calibre, experienced mechanical engineer with a proven track record in bring complex products to market. Youll be working at the cutting edge of R&D, developing novel automated scientific instrumentation products which are utilisedby researchers across drug discovery, genomics and structural biology markets.If youre passionate about innovating complex products, have a desire to excel and a flair for problem-solving technical development challenges, then read on..What are the responsibilitiesPrimarily, youll lead and manage technically challenging projects, inspiring talented multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to deliver class-leading products!Across these projects, youll be involved in a variety of tasks, but heres a non-exhaustive list:

  • Defining product requirements at early stages, through close contact and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Developing working prototypes for novel applications
  • Gathering feedback from users for ongoing improvement of designs
  • Developing and managing test programmes to establish key performance levels
  • Ensuring a smooth transition from design through to manufacturing and service teams
  • Providing legislative guidance to ensure compliance of products, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed
What are the requirementsYoull ideally bring a deep and broad understanding of mechanical engineering, and the ability to successfully apply this to high throughput manufacturing. Youll be proficient in leading projects, built on a foundation of prior successes in product developmentand commercialisation.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related subject), coupled with a thorough understanding of product development, ideally in scientific/laboratory instrumentation
  • Extensive experience with Solidworks CAD
  • A passion and talent for problem solving when working with complex technical solutions
  • First class verbal and written communication skills
Nice to haves:
  • The willingness and experience to mentor junior engineers through knowledge sharing
  • Experienced in reporting to high level management teams
  • Keen interest in developing customer relationships, and promoting the company brand
