Job Description

In Vitro Molecular ScientistLocation - CambridgeshireSector - BiologySalary - £25,000 - £28,000 dependent on experienceFull time, permanent roleOur client is a leading gene synthesis company based in Cambridgeshire, offering an opportunity within the R&D team to support the development and optimisation of IVT mRNA production and characterisation.This position is a great opportunity for someone to develop their existing laboratory skillset, working amongst multiple teams within the research and manufacturing departments. The role is well suited to individuals with previous industry experience inbiology or chemistry laboratories, experience with In Vitro Transcription (IVT), ideally with a MSc in biochemistry or a related life science field.The RoleWorking within the Research and Development team, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Development and optimisation of IVT mRNA production from DNA templates
  • Execute high-quality projects according to project plans,
  • Ensuring experimental data is analysed and interpreted effectively to detect and correct problems in experiments,
  • Collaborating across disciplines to support the clients R&D functions,
  • Ensuring equipment is correctly operated and maintained, in accordance with SOPs and health and safety guidelines,
  • Keeping detailed records of all experiments and results carried out in the laboratory.
Skills and Experience NeededAn ideal candidate will have:
  • MSc or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related life science field
  • Prior industry experience in Molecular Biology laboratory
  • Prior experience with In Vitro Transcription
  • Knowledge and experience handling DNA & RNA
  • Experience with precipitation, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, blotting, DNA & RNA quantification
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot assays
