HRS are currently looking for a scientific Group Leader with expert drug discovery knowledge in the field of Neuroscience and Neurodegenerative diseases to join a leading Drug Discovery company based in the Cambridge area. As the Group Lead - Neuroscience your team will sit a part of the companys Biologics function and you will lead on Drug Discovery project with a focus on CNS therapies. You will be a Senior member of the company where you will work cross-functionally with other departments as well as collaborate with external Pharmceutical companies and academic groups. You will lead projects across early-stage development, through to target validation and late stage pre-clinical development.This position offers the opportunity to drive forward drug discovery in a leading Biotechnology company that offers you the scope to drive business activities as well as remain hand-on with the vital scientific work our client is completing.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Your duties as the Group Lead - Neuroscience will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:1. You will lead all scientific activity related Neuroscience and Neurodegenerative disorders and will report directly to the VP of Biology. You will ensure the successful development of molecules from early stage to late stage pre-clinical development where your team will focus on Target Validation, Assay Development, Disease modelling, Biomarker identification as well as In Vivo activities. 2 You will contribute scientific expertise to all stages of the neuroscience drug discovery programmes and work cross functionally with other scientific teams including Chemists as well as with external collaborators.3. Translation of late stage preclinical CNS projects to the clinic will be among your duties and responsibilities as well as carrying out the evaluation of advanced lead compounds and leading target validation studies. ROLE REQUIREMENTS:To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Group Lead - Neuroscience we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. Relevant PhD in Neuroscience or related discipline (e.g. Biology, Neuro-Oncology, Neuro-Immunology, Neurodegenerative Diseases etc.) in addition to extensive and relevant industry experience in a Drug Discovery setting. A PhD is not require but will benefit your application and other degree levels will be considered.2. Proven industry experience in Neuroscience therapeutics with a preference on Neurodegenerative diseases. A strong network in the Neuroscience field will strongly benefit your application. 3. Practical experience carrying out cell and molecular techniques as well as using in vivo models of Neurodegeneration would be highly desirable.
