Job Description

Circa £35,000 per annum, dependent on skills & experienceFixed Term Contract, 6 monthsAnnualised hours - 1924 hours per yearBringing vital water resources to the region, along with a whole lot of fun!We need you to be passionate about delivering great customer service and vibrant parks, maximising returns to enable the continued maintenance and development of Grafham Water as a popular VAQAS and Green Flag assured attraction and Designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for wildlife. Joining us on a fixed term contract, to cover maternity leave, youll manage all day to day aspects of the operations at Grafham Water Park, located a few miles from Huntingdon/St Neots in Cambridgeshire.Grafham is one of Anglian Waters reservoirs and provides clean water to the surrounding area. It also attracts over 300,000 visitors every year and has been identified as a SSSI for over 30 years. The western end features a 280 acre nature reserve and is home to ancient woodlands, reed beds and important populations of several bird and amphibian species. Grafham is also a wonderful trout and predator fishing destination and, with a nine mile track, many visitors come to ride their bikes or take a gentle stroll.As a General Manager youll;

  • Ensure your team, including; Retail, Catering, and Ranger Services, within the Water Park work to common objectives
  • Carry out training and development, recruitment and manage performance
  • Maximise visitor enjoyment by maintaining excellent standards of service and site presentation
  • Monitor the condition of park buildings and infrastructure and prepare an annual capital maintenance program to improve and maintain safety, security and condition
  • Implement and maintain processes to achieve operational efficiency
  • Develop opportunities to increase visitor numbers and generate income.

    • What does it take to be a General Manager
  • Educated to diploma or higher ideally in leisure, amenity, and business discipline
  • Experience working in Parks or Leisure management or similar related area
  • Experience of managing budgets and implementing and monitoring financial controls
  • Experience in delivering high standards of customer service
  • Ideally industry qualifications in customer service
  • There will be some travel involved around the area we serve, youll have access to company vehicles whilst in the Park, therefore youll need a full driving licence. If successful in your application, the status of your driving licence will be checked.
