FMCG Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

My client is one of the biggest food manufactures in the UK and they are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join them on site. The role of the Maintenance Engineer is to assist with the maintenance of all areas of the manufacturing process ensuring theproduction of safe & legal products. Any other duties as deemed necessary to ensure company, legislative or customer requirements are met.Principal Accountabilities

• Inform the Engineering Manager of any issues that prevent the completion of your key responsibilities.
• Report all issues that may affect the company or the performance of the company to the Engineering Manager.
• Ensure good manufacturing practices are implemented at all times.
• Undertake any maintenance tasks relating to buildings, plant and machinery for the Fulbourn site, ensuring that all work areas and machinery is maintained to a safe standard.
• Continually monitor all items of plant and machinery ensuring optimum performance through regular scheduled maintenance and servicing where appropriate.
• Ensure the efficient operation of the production plants post maintenance and verify that appropriate levels of cleanliness are maintained by site engineers and contracted personnel.
• Undertake electrical / PLC inspections, modifications, repairs and maintenance in accordance with current regulations
• Ensure all plant break downs are reacted to and subsequent repairs completed in a timely manner.
• Enter purchases of spare parts / services onto the JD Edwards system.
• Liaise with and supervise personnel from external contractors whilst on site.
• Ensure the appropriate work permits are completed, issued and retained.
• Attend the daily Management meetings, Health and Safety committee and BRC Management review meetings in the absence of the Engineering Manager.
• Assist with the organisation and management of new projects where required.
• Keep appropriate records of maintenance procedures performed on site and 3rd party stores.
• Assist in the supervision and training of apprentice engineers where appropriate.

What We Would Be Expecting from Yourself

• Be conversant with the site quality systems required to maintain BRC accreditation.
• Implement all assigned actions raised by internal hygiene/systems audits.
• Ensure deficiencies in systems of work, procedures, plans or standards are addressed in a timely manner.
• Ensure staff awareness of and compliance to quality procedures and work instructions and ensure their enforcement.
• Be aware of and operate in accordance with relevant Health & Safety regulations and the companys Health and Safety Policies.
• Ensure Health & Safety objectives are fully implemented in the Engineering department.
• Follow the relevant Health and Safety Procedures including Near Miss reporting
• Take an active role in compiling Risk Assessments and Method Statements for Engineering operations.
• Identify any areas where improvements could be made to plant or operations.
• Attend the Health & Safety committee meetings where required.
• Ensure all actions arising from Health & Safety related audits are acted upon in a timely manner.
• Undertake and document weekly fire alarm operation checks.
