Job Description

Distribution Operations ManagerCambridgeshire Commutable from Peterborough, St Neots, Huntingdon, Cambridge, Chatteris, Ely, Thrapston£50,000 Benefits:- Bonus Scheme, Private Pension, Life Assurance, 23 Days Holiday + BanksBUPA Healthcare, Staff Discounts & Memberships Our client is a leading manufacturer & distributor of specialist products supplied through the UK & Europe, part of a larger global group. With a reputation for product quality which is second to none and industry leading standards. They are lookingfor an experienced Distribution Operations Manager to manage the daily operations across the warehouse & distribution areas.Role & Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of 2 distribution shift managers and 100 people across a 2-shift pattern 24/5
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety and quality control of products
  • Manage and navigate orders through various channels, from B2B to B2C
  • Constantly making important operational decisions, challenging staff and thinking on own initiative
  • Manage and implement the new Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) ERP Systems
  • Daily reporting to senior management, able to analyse and interpret data, to make improvements
  • Monitor and introduce new KPis
  • Provide training and support to shift managers and team leaders
  • Lead from the front, on the shopfloor, making dynamic decisions
  • Project management - NPD, NPI, Continuous Improvements and Lean Manufacturing Improvements
  • Negotiating with contracts & resource suppliers, budget control
  • Able to communicate at all levels of the hierarchy
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Must have previously worked as a manager in a busy warehouse & distribution environment
  • Experience of working in a Gold Standard warehouse
  • Ideally degree qualified in a numerate subjects, beneficial to have NEBOSH, IOSH Managing Safely
  • Strong, resilient character, experienced in making proactive and positive changes
  • Worked in a customer product driven industry (B2B to B2C)
  • Able to bring fresh ideas and a different angle of doing things - challenge people daily
  • Must have experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and MS Excel Expert
  • Skilled communicator, comfortable engaging with people at all levels
  • Experienced in analysing data, reporting and finding new ways to improve
  • Carried out NPI & NPD projects
  • Previously have managed around 100 staff
  • Knowledge of health & safety, quality control, KPi implementation
  • Lean manufacturing experience would be beneficial
  • Confident in making important business decision
