Job Description

Chemist

  • Location: Northern Cambridgeshire
  • Full-time and permanent
  • Day shifts and potential night shifts/weekends depending on the workload
Reed Scientific are proud to be partnering with a leading pyrotechnics and special effects innovators and manufacturers. They are now seeking to recruit a Chemist due to growth to join their specialist team and progress to a managerial role once the trainingis completed.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing new products for shows, tours and events and making samples
  • Writing documentation to obtain certification for new products
  • Writing SOPs and training staff
  • Continued improvement of existing products
  • Writing risk assessments and checking in conjunction with H&S officer
  • Acting as duty manager/supervising when needed
  • Working with other chemists and engineers
  • Reviewing and assessing processes with operations manager and H&S manager
  • Assisting QA, auditing and testing products on machines
  • Audit of chemical and explosives stores on site
  • Liaising with clients, companies, universities and authorities
Requirements:
  • PhD in Chemistry (or MSc degree if you are not planning to return to university for further studies)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Interested in progression to a management role
  • Can work night shifts or weekends if required
  • Experience working in a laboratory is desired
