Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced and highly proficient Applications Engineer to join our Microscopy division. As an Applications Engineer, you will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and provide valuablesupport to our customers. If you are passionate about microscopy, enjoy delivering product demonstrations and training, and possess excellent technical knowledge, this role is ideal for you.Role Overview:

  • Job Title: Applications Engineer

  • Location: Cambridge area
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to Germany for training purposes; potential for up to 50% international travel once fully trained
  • Working Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Salary: Competitive
  • Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct product demonstrations, customer trainings, and factory acceptance tests for our scanning electron microscopy (SEM) solutions.
  • Develop and deliver application collateral and customer training materials.
  • Provide application expertise and consultation to customers, sales teams, marketing, and product management.
  • Collaborate with product management, marketing, and R&D teams to validate new products.
  • Actively contribute to customer workshops and conferences.
Skills, Experience & Competencies:
    • High level of proficiency in operating scanning electron microscopes (SEM).
    • Experience in the semiconductor industry or research field; additional experience in Mineralogy or Geoscience is desirable.
    • Knowledge of sample preparation techniques for materials and semiconductor samples in electron microscopy.
    • Experience in image processing.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and structured approach to challenges.
    • Excellent communication skills with a customer-centric mindset.
    • Willingness to travel internationally up to 50%.
    • Software programming skills are desirable
Qualifications:
  • Essential:
    • M.Sc. in Material Science or related disciplines, with at least 2 years of relevant industry or academic experience in a science discipline using electron microscopy techniques. A Ph.D. is preferred.
