Job Description

Job Title: Analytical ChemistLocation: CambridgeshireSalary: £32,000 - £42,000 p/annum plus benefitsReed Scientific are recruiting for an Analytical Chemist to work with our clients research team. In this role, The Analytical Chemist will carry out material characterisation, analysis, interpretation of results and will report on their findings.This is in order to recognize where analytical techniques can answer questions or solve problems, contribute to the generation of ideas, and develop chemical analytical methods.MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Characterisation of small molecule and polymer systems to a high standard according agreed timelines, completing documentation and reporting of results.
  • Identifyand developnew methods and techniques to improve current characterisation methods.
  • Carry out routine analysis.
  • Write, initiate, adapt and follow analytical procedures and protocols.
  • Prepareresults in a timely and accurate manner and present these
  • Training junior analysts and laboratorystaff
  • Follow all health and safety protocols and ensure the laboratory is neat and equipment is maintained.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Chemistry Degree and PhD, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in a material science or analytical position in industry or a post-doc position would be an advantage
  • Expertise in characterisation of materials and identification of impurities by liquid chromatographic techniques such as LC-MS and HPLC is essential
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as GC-MS; FT-IR; PLQY; UV-VIS; GPC; DSC; Electrochemistry; SEM/EDS; DSC and NMR would be an advantage
  • An understanding of the theoretical background to analytical techniques.
  • Experience of detailed interpretation of analytical chemistry results and data to draw clear conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Must be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products and chemical drawing packages.
