Job Description

This Workshop Laboratory Manager role comes with a wealth of benefits that you will find hard to say no to. Imagine having over 40 days paid leave per yearThe role is based within one of Cambridges research facilities and will lead a group of Civil and Structural Engineering Technicians, supporting them with experiments and ensuring the safe and correct use of lab equipment.Whats on offer to you

  • Salary ranges from £32,000 - £42,000
  • 37.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Role:
  • Responsibility for the lab resource and facility which manufactures, characterises and tests construction materials and develops instrumentation
  • Providing direction on design of experiments
  • Manufacturing novel samples
  • Testing devices
  • Design and implementation of instrumentation
  • Provide and analyse data and feedback to lab users
About You:
  • Ideally a technical degree or significant experience in an appropriate role
  • Experience managing workshop facilities in the support of scientific engineering research
  • Hands-on experience of collaboration with researchers
  • Designing, building and delivering one-off instruments, equipment and prototypes with high-quality skills, including machining/forming and assembly
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Skills in instrumentation, data logging systems and software e.g. LabVIEW and CAD/CAM
