This requires a market-led and outside-in thinking approach to product and service innovation.About the RoleThis role helps to ensure our products and services are usable and intuitive, and that our designs and systems serve our users, by arranging, running, and analysing user research, as well as working with our Data Science and Insights team to collate and drivethat knowledge out into the organisation.Working closely with our UX Designers, the front-end development team and product managers, this role will drive and nurture user-centred design, helping to identify and validate opportunities for new product and service development, as well as user improvementsin an agile software development and delivery organisation.What we are looking for: Degree level education or have equivalent experience in human behaviour related fields Deep understanding of Human-centred design and Design Thinking and how they are applied to problem solving Extensive experience in planning and conducting field studies and usability studies Youll be practiced at a range of user research techniques: interviews, usability tests, A/B testing Ability to conduct both generative and evaluative research Excellent presentation and communication skills with an ability to interpret and articulate user experience findings persuasively to a wide audience Ability to develop a deep empathy and build rapport with your target users Experience in creating and maintaining design personas, empathy maps and customer journey maps Ability to gather, analyse and discerningly assess user data through web analytics, search and web logs, user surveys, support calls and research interviews Experience validating customer value propositions Any experience working in the publishing industry or with value streams would be an advantageBenefitsAt the Royal Society of Chemistry, we promote a healthy work/life balance and flexible working options across the organisation.
