Job Description

Our client based in Cambridge (1-2 days per week in the office) are seeking a Tax Manager (Direct/Corporation Tax specialist) to join them in a permanent position. Based on skills, experience, relevant qualification the base salary is up to £75k+ bonus and fantastic benefits. You must be qualified and ideally also with a Tax qualification to be considered for the opportunity. For more detailsplease apply.Tax ManagerWe are looking for a Tax Manager to join our Finance Team based in Cambridge and be responsible for managing the Corporation Tax ("CT") process for the Europe region including the preparation and completion of tax returns and reports, particularlyCT as well as other taxes.To be successful in this role you will have a demonstrable background in a similar Tax role, with extensive experience in managing the Corporate Tax process alongside an in-depth knowledge of the UK tax process and legislations. It will be second natureto you to competently analyse large quantities of data, particularly in Spreadsheets and assess implications offering recommendations to minimise corporate tax through use of tax laws and regulations. Ideally you will also have some people management experience.Being a passionate and driven manager, you will be striving to achieve exceptional results and to tight deadlines. You will ideally have a Tax Qualification or equivalent with excellent attention to detail, Excellent communication skills and good experiencewith SAP (or equivalent ERP system) alongside MS Products.Responsibilities will include:

  • Overall responsibility for CT in the region both from a compliance and advisory perspective.
  • Understand the structure of the business in the region and work with the Regional Head of Tax to advise and educate commercial and support colleagues on CT matters.
  • Accurately complete all aspects of the EMEA Corporation Tax returns for the entities in the region (currently 15 but constantly increasing). This will be a mixture of in-house completion as well as working with outsourced providers.
  • As part of the in-house UK CT compliance, compile the RDEC, patent box and share based payment calculations.
  • Manage process of estimating and paying CT prepayments, evaluating the best approach to both maximise cashflow and utilise discounts for prepaying tax.
  • Work with the General Ledger team around local GAAP tax accounting, specifically including conversion from the US GAAP accounting used within the SAP system.
  • Work with local tax advisers to understand correct local tax treatment of global activity such as share based payments, employee allowances, FX and R&D activities.
  • Evaluate ability and cost effectiveness of bringing currently outsourced CT Compliance in-house.
  • Monitor potential PE risk as the business grows, advising and guiding the business through the process of expansion.
  • Responsibility for monitoring and complying with transfer pricing regulation, including production of local files for EMEA entities, CbC notifications and filing local versions of CbC master files as required.
  • Assist with any tax audits and respond to information requests and/or tax notices as they arise.
  • Independently interpret, draw conclusions, and make recommendations regarding application of tax laws and new tax developments, particularly anti tax avoidance legislation (such as ATAD and DAC6).
  • Interact with systems and other departments to ensure accurate reporting and documentation of tax positions, particularly fixed assets and entertaining expenses.
  • Assist with global supply chain, global tax and global structuring projects.
  • Provide EMEA CT expertise in any M&A activity in the region, including due diligence work and any post-acquisition impact.
  • Assist with VAT and Employment tax compliance and queries as needed.
