Job Description

Our client is looking for candidates to cover the switchboard which is a 24-hour service to the hospital. They will provide comprehensive telephonist services and to ensure the smooth operation of all communications and alarm systems.Switchboard Operator/Telephonist Location: CambridgeParking: No parking provision on site, good bus and Park and Ride provision nearby and on site cycle parking is available.Job Type: TemporaryDuration of booking: This is a temporary ongoing role with no end date specifiedProposed start date: ASAPSector: HealthcareWorking environment: HospitalRemote working option: NoBand: 3Pay Rates: Hours worked during the following hours will be paid as followed:Monday to Friday 6am to 8pm (Day Hours): £11.68 to £12.00 paye inclusive of holiday per hourMonday to Friday 8pm to 6am (Night Hours)/Saturday:£15.50 to £16.00paye inclusive of holiday per hourSunday: £19.50 to £21 paye inclusive of holiday per hourWorking Days and Hours: Monday to Sunday working as many shifts per week work the following hours:Early Shift 7.30am - 3-30pmDay Shift 9am - 5pmLate Shift 2-30pm - 10-30pmNight Shift 10pm - 8amDuties include:

  • The switchboard is a 24-hour service to the hospital.
  • Responding to enquiries and providing advice and assistants to callers.
  • You would also be responsible for activating emergency calls either by pager or telephone.
  • Administration duties include maintaining on call details
  • Issuing and unblocking access cards
  • Completing administration including recording details of incidents.
  • Full training will be provided relating to the operation of the switchboard, and the related switchboard IT systems.
  • This includes emergency responses within the department.
