With an annual turnover of over £200m and over 35,000 students, they are a major force for higher education in the East of England.About the role:This is a great opportunity to be part of a team that is shaping the development of the Universities Technical architecture and its continuous development and oversight, providing the services underpinning Staff and Students at ARU.As part of a small team, you will drive the architectural development, in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts and other on-premises infrastructure. You will ensure consistency of functional service quality and management requirements takingresponsibility for all high-level design decisions during procurement and development, including planning and specification of solutions.As an excellent communicator with substantial, relevant, and recent knowledge and experience of network, cloud, and security focussed architecture you will have experience of working with a broad range of technologies, developing and implementing organisationlevel Architecture policies and standards.Key Responsibilities

• Translating business requirements into architectural approaches and solutions.
• Designing overarching system and solution architecture, systems integration and realisation strategies.
• Providing sound and confident technical and architectural advice to multi-functional development teams.
• Drive and shape the architectural development in collaboration with relevant subject matter experts ensuring consistency with functional, service quality and management requirements, taking responsibility for all high-level design decisions during procurementand development, including the planning and specification of solutions.
• In collaboration with key stakeholders, users, Business Analysts and other IT specialists undertake requirements gathering.
• Translate logical design into physical implementation, taking due consideration of requirements, constraints and budgets.
• Provide architectural leadership in product/supplier evaluation and solution design whether as part of a project or operational service enhancement. Ensure new designs/solutions are compliant and meet agreed architectural principles and standards.
• Coordinate design activity within our infrastructure development programme, taking responsibility for the infrastructure and architectural integrity of our projects. Identify any technical issues and make recommendations for resolution.
• Promote appropriate corporate, industry and technical and quality standards, policies, strategies, practices and control processes, advising on how the university may best implement and adhere to them.

What youll need to be successful:

• Experience within a similar role defining a companys IT infrastructure
• Strong communication skills
• Higher Education Degree in Relevant Subject
• Relevant professional qualification
• ITIL Certification
• Information system security architecture professional experience
• Experience working in a large-scale organisation
• Experience in Public Sector or Higher Education
