It has overall responsibilityfor coordinating University-wide development campaigns, raising funds to support world-leading research, scholarships, and more for the Universitys Schools, Faculties, Departments and institutions like the Fitzwilliam Museum and University Library. We workclosely with Cambridges 31 Colleges and our sister office, Cambridge in America, to maximise alumni engagement and fundraising with our constituencies across the globe.About the roleYou will be responsible for drafting documentation for donors or their representatives and ensuring the necessary processes for accepting donations have been undertaken. This is a great role for someone looking to enter the Fundraising/Charity sector atan intermediate level. Settlement at Cambridge is a unique process, which involves negotiating terms, drafting appropriate legal documentation (in consultation with the Universitys legal team or external legal counsel when necessary), and ensuring compliancewith University procedures in order that donors funding can be deployed according to their wishes and used for transformative projects across our collegiate University.The Team is responsible for leading the settlement of all major (£100k+) and principal (£10m+) gifts to the University and was instrumental in securing the first £100m gift to a UK University from a British philanthropist. It handles the documentation ofapproximately 150 major and principal gifts each year - a figure that is set to increase along with the expansion of the fundraising team.This role is based in central Cambridge, with the Settlement Team having adopted a hybrid working arrangement over the past year. Flexible working arrangements will be considered and this can be discussed at interview.About youThe ideal candidate will have experience drafting legal documentation and confirming compliance with policies and procedures, confidence in communicating with a variety of people, including at the highest levels of seniority, and an interest in being a partof a team that enables a wide range of exciting projects that help make Cambridge the unique place it is. We are also interested in candidates who can demonstrate transferable skills from the policy, compliance, or contracts administration sectors, as wellas those with legal/paralegal qualifications and law graduates.
