Job Description

Senior Software Engineer - C++, RTOS£40,000-£70,000 dependant on experiencePermanent Role Milton, near Cambridge - UK Benefits:

Are you open to joining an innovation focused technology company, with a start-up dynamic but the stability of a larger organisation Would you like to help them develop there groundbreaking products, taking on the major players of the industryWe are recruiting for a innovating focused engineering company, disturbing the NDT industry with some exciting technology.Heavily backed by the parent company, they are as stable and secure as ambitious start-ups come.The job:This senior software position is key to the improvements of current product sets, and the development on new products moving forwards.Its a changing dynamic position and will suit a problem solving engineer with experience integrating with hardware, converting algorithms into usable code and collaborating with the commercial side of the company.Skills needed:Essential:
  • At least 5 yearsindustry experience
  • Strong C++
  • Proven ability to develop software requirements by collaborating with scientific and commercial colleagues
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented design principles
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Proven written and in-person communications skills
Highly desirable
  • 2:1 or higher in a relevant degree (eg computer science, engineering, mathematics or physics)
  • Experience developing for Real-Time operating systems (RTOS)
  • Signal processing (theory and practice)
  • Experience handling large scientific data sets
  • Experience with hands-on hardware integration
  • Experience designing hardware-software systems, such as sensors, instrumentation products, embedded systems, audio processing, etc.
  • C#, especially with WPF
  • OpenCL
  • Unit testing and test automation frameworks
  • Familiarity with working in an Agile development environment
Interesting bonus skills
  • Comfortable reading electronic schematics
  • Robotics
  • Python data science skills
