Job Description

REED are working with an exciting life sciences company based in the Cambridge area to fill a vacancy for an experienced Upstream scientist to work within their BioProcessing Facility as part of the Cell Line Development team. The company works with manyof the best biopharmaceutical companies in the world, developing biologics and bioconjugates.About the Job

  • Working as part of the upstream team within the Bioprocessing Lab, responsible for operation and maintenance of single use bench scale bioreactor systems running fed batch mammalian cell culture processes for the supply of recombinant proteins
  • Working with key stakeholders (e.g CLD, Downstream Processing) to ensure alignment of processes and practices Writing and reviewing Quality and Controlled documents
  • Utilising a level of attention to detail to be able to identify, analyse and resolve routine and complex problems.
  • Delivering project timelines with the opportunity to develop and learn new techniques from experienced colleagues in a fast-paced but supportive environment.
About You
  • Masters or PhD degree in life science subject, OR Lower level of qualification AND relevant experience, including routine passage of cells for bioreactor inoculum generation, preferably using CHO cells
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and communications skills, some line management, coaching or mentoring experience would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of, and/or experience with downstream processes is advantageous. Great organisation and communication skills, able to work independently as well as within a team
  • You will need to have a full understanding of mammalian cell culture, process development and scale-up- especially comprehensive knowledge of small scale-bioreactors.
