Job Description

Senior Scientist 1 - BioproductionLocation: Cambridge, United KingdomSalary: CompetitivePurpose of the Senior Scientist:To work within a small team to improve processes related to cell line development and validating new products prior to launch. Providing scientific expertise and problem-solving skill to influence research strategy.Please note this a lab-based role which requires hands on experience.Senior Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring scientists and directing daily work for the team
  • Conducts independent research to identify and improve current on-market products
  • Uses scientific expertise to develop processes and protocol
  • Design experiments, interpret data and suggest additional experiments to realise products and progress investigations
  • To be an effective team member in supporting the research and development functions in Horizon Bioproduction.
    • Senior Scientist Requirements:
  • Highly motivated senior scientist with 3 to 5 years cell culture and molecular experience either in industry or academia.
  • Extensive experience of recombinant protein expression methods and an in-depth knowledge of Cell Line Development for mammalian cell lines (ideally CHO)
  • Skilled in experimental design and troubleshooting, and strong organisational skills and focus on detail leading to reliable results.
  • In-depth knowledge of own scientific discipline
  • PhD or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline (Life Sciences, Biochemical Engineering)
    • Desirable:
  • Good understanding of downstream workflows to support purification operations and analytical assessment of biotherapeutics.
  • Practical knowleldge of AmbR bioreactors.
  • Excellent knowledge of molecular biology techniques covering gDNA and RNA isolation, PCR (gDNA, RT-PCR, droplet digital PCR).
  • Experience of Health and Safety policies and implementation.
  • Worked within an environment to GLP or cGMP.
