Job Description

Senior Research Software Development Engineer A global powerhouse within the technology industry is looking for a Senior Research Software Development Engineer to join their team in Cambridge on a contract until 30th June 2022 initially - The contract is likely to be extended to 18 months and the successfulcandidate will have flexibility to work remotely 50% of the time.Responsibilities

  • Maintaining their existing C# codebase which controls their optical imaging systems.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting interactions between the hardware and software.
  • Designing and implementing new features in the codebase to support ongoing research activities.
  • Working closely with optical physicist to understand their needs and help smooth their day-to-day workflow.
Skills / Experience Required
  • C# coding, at least 3 years industry experience.
  • Python (numpy)
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervisions towards defined tasks as part of a team.
  • Multi-threaded coding experience.
  • C/C++ native coding experience.
Qualifications
  • BA in Computer Science (Masters or PhD preferred), or related field.
  • Experience working in a research setting (e.g. PostDoc, Research Assistant, or Research Software Engineer (RSE))
Typical Day in the RoleWork with optical physicists to understand their required workflow, consider the existing code and how best to fit in to that, implement the feature, test it to ensure it works as expected without regressing other features, and deploying the code to theirrunning rigs.Work on understanding an issue, perhaps adding more diagnostics to capture additional detail needed, diagnose the root cause issue, fix it, and verify the fix.Huntress Search Ltd acts as a Recruitment Agency in relation to all Permanent roles and as a Recruitment Business in relation to all Temporary roles.PLEASE NOTE: We can only consider applications from candidates who have the right to work in the UK.
