We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.What its aboutCambridge Assessment International Education are seeking an experienced Senior Programme Manager to work with Senior Leaders to design, plan and manage large-scale programmes from the initiation stage through to implementation. This role will also managesome Project Managers and/or Project Team Members and be responsible for the quality of the projects they are delivering.This role requires an in-depth understanding of programme management methodologies and practice - ideally combined with a thorough knowledge of how to deliver change on an international scale.The role will also provide business consultancy support to Cambridge International and previous experience in this area is an advantage.What youll be doing
  • To conceptualise and deliver Cambridge Internationals strategy, focusing on Programme and Project delivery across the business and to customers, ensuring that development in these areas adds significant and lasting value to our business.
  • To lead and implement the Programmes and Projects to deliver the Cambridge International Strategy and lead corresponding business transformation in a way which builds customer loyalty, market growth, and a continued desire to do business with CambridgeInternational
  • To lead and develop a team of staff focused on delivering major business change programmes, ensuring developments are delivered in a way that takes the business forward and maintains Cambridge Internationals competitiveness.
  • To ensure Programmes are managed according to best practice principles - e.g. appropriate governance is in place, required documentation is produced, the business case supports the Business Plan, and budgets are effectively developed and monitored etc.
  • Build a network of contacts at all levels throughout IT and multiple product groups to increase the value of investments, operating professionally and with sensitivity to the needs of departments and individuals and ensuring effective collaboration withinternal and external technology providers.
  • Provide business consultancy services to Cambridge International in order to help enable the Business Stream define their purpose, and take a leading role in re-engineering and designing products and processes to maximise the capability from current andfuture business process and digital technologies.
  • To contribute to the development of a Programme and Project Management community in order to align working practices, realise synergies and identify new development opportunities.
  • To be a source of expertise and have significant practical experience of analysis, process design and re-engineering, management consultancy and IT-enabled change. Provide support, guidance and mentoring to other team members.
What were looking forWe are looking for a Senior Programme Manager to, by ones own efforts manage and deliver programmes to agreed scope and to scheduled cost and quality. You will be responsible for motivating and providing leadership for programme teams working with seniorstakeholders to ensure the objectives of Cambridge International are delivered.You will also be comfortable working with Senior stakeholders, such as Directors, to shape and create clarity from ambiguity.To be considered for this position of Senior Programme Manager it is essential for candidates to have proven experience in designing and then managing complex projects and programmes as well as having excellent leadership skills.Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level with an appropriate Masters qualification preferred (preferably MBA) or equivalent experience
  • Project management qualification (e.g. MSP, PRINCE2, SAFe) highly desirable
Experience
  • Detailed domain knowledge essential (complex interdependent change programmes involving both process and technologies etc.)
  • A thorough understanding of the opportunities offered by a diverse range of technologies
  • Detailed knowledge of principles of project and programme management, working in both agile and waterfall delivery teams
  • Understanding of Cambridge Internationals marketplace and stakeholders
  • Appreciation of IT development practices and methodologies
  • Substantial experience of managing complex business change programmes of work
