Job Description

Senior Medicinal Chemist role for a fast-growing biotech and Targeted Protein Degradation company Your new companyThis rapidly-growing Cambridge-based biotech company uses a unique scientific approach to targeted protein degradation to drive modern drug discovery. Their therapeutic portfolio growth is going to be further facilitated by recent collaboration deals with twoglobal pharmaceutical companies. The companys recent funding is going to enable them to progress their project portfolio and strengthen their scientific platform.Your new roleDuring your role as a Senior Medicinal Chemist, you will be using your experience in project delivery and creative skills to tackle drug discovery challenges. You will also be contributing to their specific programmes within the protein degrader drug discoveryportfolio this way helping to shape their future R&D strategy. As a part of their chemistry team, you will also work closely with other chemists, biologists, pharmacologists, and drug development scientists.Some of the responsibilities will include:

  • Helping to design and deliver project plans to facilitate decision-making and project progression
  • Contributing to their chemistry strategy to increase its effectiveness to deliver high quality clinical candidates
  • Working closely with chemists and other scientists at CRO partners
  • Contributing your medicinal chemistry & drug discovery expertise
What youll need to succeed
  • PhD/MSc/BSc in Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Extensive pharma/biotech drug discovery experience
  • Previous scientific productivity and work in development candidate nomination, lead optimisation entry and further progression into development
  • Patent analysis expertise as well as competitive intelligence and strategic awareness of target drug discovery
  • Extensive experience of creative medicinal chemistry strategy implementation to produce candidate molecules for further development and clinical evaluation
  • Robust understanding of contemporary small molecule drug discovery and development
  • Awareness of contemporary synthetic methods and parallel chemistry opportunities to enable target molecule synthesis
  • Excellent scientific reputation shown by publications and conference presentations
