- Linux Systems Administrator - £385 per day - 3 month contract starting immediately - Role based in CambridgeAs one of the most revered leaders in their industry, this technology led organisation is widely regarded as one of Britain’s global success stories. This is a fantastic opportunity to join them as we are looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator.Main Accountabilities - Manage, coordinate, and implement hardware and OS installs for Linux HPC and Linux Server, post build application install/validation, configurations, software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes- Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service- Linux systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs- Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments- Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions- Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks- Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment- Collaborate with other teams and team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processesQualifications and Requirements- Previous working experience as a Linux Administrator/Engineer required- IN depth knowledge of Linux Server OS: RedHat preferred.- Previous experience and familiarity with HPC Clustering services such as IBM LSF is a major plus.- Hands on experience with MySQL, MariaDB, Postgresql is a plus- Familiarity with virtualization (RHEV, VMWare, and SAN) management and concepts is preferred- Experience and knowledge of sendmail and/or postfix- Expert in Shell, Perl, and/or Python and automation scripting- Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, NTP and SNMP- Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE and LPIC) will be considered an advantage- Strong problem solving and communication skills- Solid understanding of Enterprise Server hardware- Good knowledge of the following Application Servers - DNS, DHCP, GDM, Apache Web Server- Good knowledge on Puppet, Foreman and Ansible automation and CM tools- Experience with HPe and Dell remote management tools(VC,ILO.Hp OneView, Dell Open Manage, etc)- Experience with administration and working knowledge of Iplanet Directory server / Oracle directory server, and/or LDAP in general preferred- Strong LDAP experience in an Enterprise Linux environment highly preferred.- Experience with Bluecat DNS/DHCP appliance is a plus- Good working knowledge of TFTP and PXE along with kickstart, Jumpstart knowledge is a plus- Good experience of Enterprise single sign-on technology in Linux environment a plus- Experience with load balancers like HAProxy a plus- Excellent team working skills.- Excellent customer service attitude, written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.- Able to work some evenings and weekends, and off-business hours to support maintenance or project delivery outside of normal business hours.
