Senior Java Developer Ref34344 Location: Hybrid role 2 days in Cambridge office (free parking available) 3 days at home.Salary: £70,000 p.a.Please note that this role is urgent and therefore candidates requiring sponsorship will NOT be considered.Global science insights and publications company requires experiencedSenior Java Developer to work within its multi-award-winning life-sciences technology company based in Cambridge UK which is transforming the way life science organisations handle textand documents. The team engages in collaborative R&D with its customers to devise new solutions to problems they are facing.Duties:

• Developing new components for our innovative platform for solving problems with large volumes of text-based data
• Developing rapid prototypes to test potential approaches in areas such as search, text mining, machine learning, graph technology, or others suited to your skill set
• Testing and documenting the above
• Working to deliver exceptional customer support

Skills Required:

• Experience of designing, developing and deploying scalable java 11 web based solutions
• Experience with the Spring Boot
• Confidence to own tasks, work with technical and business stakeholders and see things through
• Object Orientated concepts and design
• A passion for learning and applying new technologies
• The ability to design and build unit-tested, modular code and deploy and run it on Linux servers locally or in the cloud either natively of in containers
• Understanding of Agile software development process and software management/deployment tools such as maven, git, docker, AWS, Jenkins etc.

Advantageous but not essential skills:Additionally, any experience in the following would be advantageous:

• Experience of designing or using RESTful web services
• Experience with AWS (principally EC2, S3)
• Understanding and experience of deploying code in containers, e.g., docker
• Experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical domains
• Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD
• Confidence in Linux based environments
• Understanding of modern web authentication flows
• Lucene based search technologies such as ElasticSearch
• Text Processing and Big Data
