A unique opportunity to work at the heart of the University of Cambridge, providing the highest level of executive support for the Vice-Chancellor, our principal administrative officer.Reporting to the Head of the Vice-Chancellors Office, you will be part of a small but highly motivated team helping the Vice-Chancellor meet all operational and strategic needs.This is a position of exceptional responsibility requiring a creative and highly committed person with impeccable organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.You must have experience of providing a high standard of administrative support, including diary management and travel planning, for a busy senior executive in a large and complex organization. A record of working in the Higher Education sector is advantageousbut not essential.As a gatekeeper for the Vice-Chancellor, you will at all times be professional, efficient and courteous. Tact and diplomacy are essential to the job, as are confidence and the ability to think strategically. You will be expected to be persuasive and adeptat communicating to others, internally and externally, the Vice-Chancellors needs. You will also be managing the work of two members of staff at the Vice-Chancellors residence.You will be joining the Vice-Chancellors Office at a time of leadership transition and will need to employ forward-planning skills and attention to detail to ensure a smooth handover between the Acting Vice-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor Elect. Resilience,adaptability and the ability to work under pressure will be essential.The job is largely office-based - you will be working at The Old Schools, the Universitys administrative center - but occasional remote working is possible. Though the role ordinarily requires working normal office hours, some flexibility may be necessarydue to the irregular nature of the Vice-Chancellors day-to-day business.We are able to offer a salary, within the advertised range, commensurate with your experience.
