This is a new senior leadership position to support a more effective and efficient management structure of the UK Global Programme Office of TRAFFIC, which has grown considerably in terms of staffing and budget over the past few years. The scope of responsibilitiesis similar to Senior Regional Director but focused on the management of the Global Office.CHARACTERISTIC DUTIESPlay a leading role in the development, promotion and marketing of the work of the Global Programme Office, with specific attention to global and multi-regional programmes, partnerships, and policy dialogue managed by the Global Programme Office.Inspire, manage and guide the delivery of the work of the Global Programme Office to ensure strong performance and results.Work as part of the TRAFFIC senior leadership team, with collaborative responsibility for development and implementation of the strategic priorities of the Global Programme Office.SPECIFIC DUTIESGlobal Office Management Lead the Global Programme Office, ensuring the Global Programme Office has the institutional capacity and financial resources to deliver its strategic priorities in its areas of primary responsibility. Provide oversight, technical guidance, and quality assurance for two teams: Strategy, Programme, and Impact Team; and Data, Research and Enforcement Support Team. Lead annual budget planning and monitoring processes for Global Programme Office work, ensuring full compliance with TRAFFIC operations policies and fiduciary standards, in collaboration with the Senior Director - Operations. Ensure effective management, supervision, and work planning systems for Global Programme Office staff and consultants, handling personnel issues as needed including performance, promptly and proactively, and supporting staff development. Represent the Global Programme Office team in the development and management of TRAFFICs Strategy and annual work planning processes led by the Director - Strategy, Programme, and Impact. Guide and support effective collaboration among Global Programme Office team members in their implementation of the Global Programme Office workplan.Global Programme Office Implementation and Partner Engagement Oversee implementation of project portfolio and policy dialogue of the Global Programme Office, including multiregional projects when needed, ensuring that the Global Programme team delivers project results in a timely fashion and to expected quality standards. Represent TRAFFIC and maintain links and good working relationships with relevant WWF and IUCN offices, governmental and inter-governmental agencies, major donors and relevant NGOs related to Global Programme Office work. Contribute to effective public and policy interactions with the media, government and non-government agencies, and with funding bodies and donor agencies related to Global Programme Office work. Collaborate with senior colleagues across TRAFFIC in developing and marketing projects necessary to deliver the TRAFFIC Strategy as a co-ordinated effort, including development of Global Programme Office funding proposals and budgeting and scheduling plannedactivities. Contribute to development of partnerships with other potential collaborators related to Global Programme Office work and strategic priorities. Provide quality assurance for the technical review of TRAFFIC publications and funding proposals, particularly in the areas of accountability of the Global Programme Office (e.g. data and research, enforcement support, wildlife crime, anti-corruption,One Health, and Social and Behaviour Change).Organization leadership Contribute to organizational leadership structures, including Senior Leadership Team, Extended Leadership Team, and International Management Team. Work closely with the Executive Director and Senior Director - Operations to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the UK Office, including UK office policies and chairing of UK staff meetings. Serve as Deputy to the Executive Director with regard to day-to-day programmatic management of TRAFFIC under specified terms as necessary. Contribute to leadership roles at Cambridge Conservation Initiative, and technical collaboration with partners of CCI. Represent TRAFFIC at external fora as needed.
